Weather and climate

Tanzania experiences hot weather year-round, with humid conditions along the coast and dry conditions on the central plateau. Heavy rains occur from March to June, often making travel on unsealed roads challenging.

The hot, dry weather in January and February attracts the most tourists. The best time to visit the Serengeti is from January to March when grazers are calving and lions are plentiful.

Alternatively, you can witness the wildebeest migration to and from Kenya, which typically occurs at the onset of the dry season and again with the first rains, usually around early June and mid-November.
