Animal Welfare Volunteering program
Who fit For Program?
Volunteers who love animals and are passionate about animal welfare. No experience in animal care or veterinary training is required as you’ll be working closely with a local veterinarian.
Volunteer program Introduction:
The VCO Animal Welfare project allows volunteers to assist a local vet in treating farm and domestic animals. Volunteers gain hands-on animal care experience by working in a shelter and accompanying the vet to farms and homes around Arusha, delivering veterinary care in a developing country.
Expectations
Volunteers may assist cure a range of animals, including donkeys, chickens, cows, and household pets like dogs and cats, through the Animal Welfare programs. In addition to helping with duties like immunizations, treatment administration, and even minor operations and surgeries, you will gain knowledge about the common illnesses and diseases that Tanzanian animals face.
On subjects like donkey care and fundamental animal health procedures, the veterinarian also provides guidance and instruction to farmers. To assist in getting shelter animals ready for adoption, volunteers can participate in tasks including dog walking, cleaning, feeding, and playing.
Volunteers interested in hands-on animal care are encouraged to get the Rabies vaccination, though it’s not mandatory. Having the vaccination allows volunteers to participate more fully in the project.
