Volunteer program Introduction:
Would you like to work as a volunteer teacher in Tanzania? With many big, understaffed classes in Arusha, the Teaching initiative by Vision Changer Organization provides a fantastic chance for volunteers to assist local schools. Volunteers help local instructors with a variety of courses or lead classes to obtain invaluable teaching experience.
Volunteers might also opt to work at schools that serve kids with disabilities, giving them the essential care and support to succeed both personally and intellectually.
Expectations
In Tanzania, children cherish their school experience and value the education they receive. However, as teenagers, many students leave school to help support their families. Volunteers contribute a diverse perspective to children’s education during their time in school, nurturing their enthusiasm for learning, expanding their horizons.
As a Teaching volunteer, you will work in English-medium or government schools. These schools typically have crowded classes with 30 to 50 students, where volunteers play a significant role in enabling more personalized teaching. You will assist local teachers or lead classrooms in various subjects, including:
- English
- Math
- Science
- Geography
- History
- Art
- Physical education
Volunteers also have the chance to support students with a range of mental and physical disabilities at a special needs school, where these students require substantial attention and assistance in their studies. If you have experience working with individuals with disabilities or are interested in this option, please specify in your application.
